Henley Youth Chamber Orchestra

Henley Youth Chamber Orchestra (HYCO) provides the opportunity for musicians to rehearse and perform the chamber symphonic repertoire.

The orchestra rehearses weekly during term time at the Christchurch Centre, Henley-on-Thames. Rather than requiring a fixed standard the orchestra aims to accommodate those wishing to play in it and repertoire is chosen to cater to the current members.

The orchestra operates a policy of rotating woodwind members, when the need arises, in order to give more players the chance to play in a balanced chamber orchestra.

Orchestra members are often given the chance to perform as soloists in concerto movements and entire concertos.

The orchestra regularly performs at the Christchurch Centre, Henley and has also played at the Norden Farm Arts Centre, Maidenhead; the Reading Town Hall Concert Hall and the University of Reading.

HYCO is supported by the Eureka! Music Foundation and, during most Terms, the orchestra rehearses one of the works which is in the Reading Youth Orchestra repertoire so that HYCO members can have the opportunity to play as part of Reading Youth Orchestra.
